Pavillion of Art and Design, VIP Opening Day

3.10.16

Today London saw the VIP opening of the 10th Edition of the Pavilion of Art and Design in Berkeley Square.  PAD  has established itself as one of the top leading international art fairs focusing on 20th and 21st century art, design and decorative arts. It is by far my most favourite fair to visit during Frieze week as it is smaller, more focused and definitely the most sophisticated both in terms of the galleries exhibiting and the visitors itself so much so that it has now become one of the major destinations for collectors wishing to purchase unique and exceptional works.
Being the collectors preview day , the fair was buzzing with an extraordinary, eclectic and international crowd eager to discover what the various galleries had to offer this year. I must say I have been going to PAD since its conception and in my opinion today the fair surpassed all expectations reaching another level of class and exquisiteness. I was so impressed by the uniqueness of each showcased objet d'art and by their quality. It was what I call a wow factor event from start to finish ! Some of my favourite stands were the De Jonckheere gallery which showcased a beautiful selection of Fontana's, a very rare self portrait of Michelangelo Pistoletto and the work of a fantastic French contemporary artist called Philippe Pasteur (see image below).

Another prominent French gallery, Le Claireur , showcased the most visually stunning selection of bronze works by Parisian artist Pierre Bonnefille (see image below) who invents colours, textures and polychromatic mural arrangements that reflect nature and its seasonal metamorphosis.
